The KHS volleyball started their season by placing third in the KHS Invitational. This is the highest the Kats have finished in the history of the invitational. The VolleyKats have used that momentum as they season moves on.
Junior Regan McClain is hoping the Kats can finish higher in the North Central Conference than they did last year. Forming a bond with her teammates is one way she’s working towards that goal. The friendships the team has with each other is one of their top strengths.
“As the season progresses, we continue to prepare for each game by making sure we hold each other accountable and continue to communicate as well as set each other up for success,” McClain said.
Sophomore Torre Willis has made improvements to her game from last year.
“Coming from 8th grade volleyball into 9th was a huge change for me,” she said. “I was new to this team and their techniques.”
Over time though, Willis got more comfortable and her game improved.
But it isn’t all about games and practices for McClain.
“My favorite moment of the season so far was getting to go to Ball State with some of the team to watch a game. It was a great team bonding experience,” she said.
The VolleyKats take on the Northwestern Tigers Tuesday in the Haworth Gym. Game time is 6pm.
