After placing 7th at last year’s IHSAA state wrestling finals, senior Jalen Sawyer-May wanted to finish his high school career on the podium again. Sawyer-May did just that at the 2024 state finals in Evansville.

“I’m happy to place higher than I did last year,” he said. “I’m happy to be one of the best.”

But, Sawyer-May isn’t done yet. He will wrestle with Team Indiana at the Illinois vs. Indiana All-Star Duals on Saturday, March 16 at Mooresville High School.

“I’m excited to represent Kokomo one last time,” Sawyer-May said.

For head coach Jacob Bough, the feeling of watching Sawyer-May qualify for state was one of the highlights of the season.

“My goal for this season was to get to state,” he said. “That’s the main goal every year!”
