It’s almost here. Time away from school without homework. So what are you going to do? We’ve compiled a list of recommendations to help you spend your Christmas break.
- Watch Christmas movies: Get into the holiday spirit with movies like Elf, Home Alone, A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, Frosty the Snowman, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and The Nightmare Before Christmas are all classics you could enjoy.
- Go ice skating: You can visit the Frozen Sandlot at the Kokomo Jackrabbits stadium. The ice rink is open until Jan. 12. Their hours vary depending on the day, so check their website before you go (frozensandlot.com). You can also check out the Winter Village at the stadium on the weekends.
- Make Christmas cookies: Pick up some pre-made Christmas cookie dough and throw it in the oven to bake and then enjoy while you watch Christmas movies. Or, you could always make some homemade cookies. Check out this simple recipe to experiment with and make your own.
How to Make Sugar Cookies
Make the dough: beat together butter, sugar, and flour until nicely blended.
Form the cookies: form the dough into 1-inch balls. Roll the balls in sugar, then flatten them with a glass or measuring cup.
Bake: bake at 375 until just barely golden around the edges and bottom.
Rest: add sprinkles or icing of your choice and let sit and cool for at least 10-15 minutes before eating.
There are lots of other ways to enjoy your time away from school, so no matter what you do, make sure you take time to relax and have friends with your friends and family.
