Coming into the season with a lot of grit and determination, the KHS boys basketball team came up short in the sectional championship, falling to the Harrison Raiders. Although they did not go very far in the tournament, the team still had a very successful season.

Senior Zion Bellamy left his legacy on the program by etching his name in the record books becoming the greatest career three-point shooter in Wildkat history. He is the 11th Kat to score more than 100 threes. Bellamy also became one of the many Kats to score 1,000 or more points, earning his 1,000th point in the last regular season game against Huntington North.

Bellamy wasn’t the only one impacting the program though. Freshman Austin Moos found mentorship in another one of his senior teammates.

“Max (Feuerle) was the most impactful teammate this season. To me, I was following in Max’s footsteps, but instead of acting cool to me, he guided me and helped me through thick and thin,” Moos said. “At the start of the season, Max took me under his wing and taught me a new way to do things, new strategies and how to use my frame. I will forever be grateful for Max.”

Moos found a good connection with Feuerle, but it was evident the whole team had a good bond this year.

“It was a fun year playing with the chemistry we had,” said junior Korbyn Hammel. “We had a lot of downs you could say, but there were a lot of ups.”

Looking forward, some players will be returning while others will be graduating and moving onto something new.

“I am excited to play next season and come back a better player than I left,” Moos said.

The Wildkat basketball team has definitely left an impression on the community over the last few years and they hope to continue this winning culture for years to come.
