The KHS boys’ golf season recently kicked off with a match against Eastern. Sophomore Ashtyn Goff led the way with a 39, his best score in competition. Head coach Matt York was pleased with how his team golfed, especially since they’ve only had a couple of weeks to practice.

As a team, the golfers have their sights set on finishing in the top three at the sectional and win the North Central Conference. The team has also set individual goals for the season too.

“My goal for the season is to break 80 more than once,” said sophomore Mitchell McClelland. “I also want to stay consistent throughout the whole season.”

Junior Jack VerLee is also hoping to make improvements to his scores.

“I would like to improve my overall scoring as well as improve my mental focus,” he said.

Overall, the team is hoping to improve consistently throughout the season, setting themselves up for a strong run in the NCC and sectional matches.

The boys’ golf team travels to the Logansport Invitational on Saturday.
