Since August, the Kokomo Wildkats football team has been playing to win. Their winning streak started with the 28-14 win in the rivalry game against the Western Panthers and went unbroken until the Sept. 17 game against Lafayette Jefferson. However, the Wildkats never give up.

The football team went on to win eight of their 11 games, beating Western (28-14), Plymouth (41-6), McCutcheon (36-7), Marion (42-12), South Bend (56-6), Logansport (28-14), Indianapolis Arsenal Technical (28-0), and Anderson (35-6). As always, the Kokomo Wildkats fought bravely until the end, losing 17-42 in the sectional championship game against the Zionsville Eagles.

For many members of the football team, the championship game against Zionsville was their last. Players Plez Lawrence, Dre’veon Lewis, George Montes, Kymani Howard, Ta’shy Stewart, Nathaniel Blackamore, Brayden Camp, Tyreese Tucker, Cole Boruff, Jaylin Cannon, Diego Giner, Fabion Jones and Trey Marciniak will graduate as members of the class of 2022.

Luckily, many of our talented players still have more time at KHS and we never run short of fresh talent. The football loving community in Kokomo can’t wait to see what next year’s season will bring.
