Following the previous seasons of KHS basketball, this year has been a huge game changer for the boys’ basketball team. With uncertainty last season because of the pandemic, the team is ready to step up and push through the rest of the 2022 season.

Head coach John Peckinpaugh is in his first season leading the Wildkats. He has been working with his team on playing solid defense. One thing the team has improved on this season is starting to buy into the defensive end of the floor.

“I think our guys are really starting to understand how we want to defend and the details that go into it,” he said.

Peckinpaugh has brought a lot of experience to the Kokomo basketball program. He says a great tip for basketball players out there is “getting in the gym and working on game shots at game speed.”

“I love helping the boys achieve their dreams on and off court while also building relationships with them,” Peckinpaugh said.

The team is excited to work and show off their skills this season as they prepare for the many games coming up soon. The Kats’ take on Lafayette Jeff tonight at Memorial Gym. JV action starts at 6pm with the varsity game to follow.
