KHS offers several extracurriculars

Whether you’re interested in the arts or robotics, KHS likely has a club for you. For fans of everything from video games to books and nature to community service, there are many ways to get involved, learn something new and make new friends.

Student Council

As one of the oldest and most active clubs at KHS, Student Council plans Homecoming, Spirit Days, Halloween Trick-or-treating and Spring Formal.

When: Almost every Monday from 2:30pm - 2:50pm Where: Room 281

Girls' League

Interested in helping plan Prom? Then, KHS's oldest club might be for you. In addition to Prom, Girls' League hosts the Father-Daughter party and the Mother-Daughter party.

When: Tuesdays from 2:30pm - 2:50pm

History & Civics Club

If you like learning about History, then the History & Civics club is for you. This club boasts cool History facts at each meeting.

Bridges

Bridges meets after school and offers students a chance to socialize and get homework help.

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30-4pm
Where: KHS cafeteria

Speech & Debate

The Speech & Debate teams give students a chance to work on their public speaking and writing strategies in a competitive setting. Team members compete in local, state and national tournaments.

When: Thursdays from 2:30pm - 3:00pm

Esports

The Esports team competes in several different areas including Rocket League, Super Smash Brothers and chess. Last year, the team won the chess state title.

When: Mondays or Tuesdays from 2:30pm - 3:30pm

TechnoKats

The TechnoKats robotics team competes annually in the FIRST robotics competition. Each year, the design and build a robot to compete in a new game. Their first competition is Sept. 29.

Art Club

Looking for a new way to be creative? Check out the Art Club. This group works on individual and group projects and learns new techniques throughout the year.

When: Tuesdays at 3pm

KATS Together

KATS Together allows students of all abilities to build friendships with each other by spending lunches and social time together.

When: Every other Friday during lunch

Shadow of Hope

Book Club

If reading and talking about books is your thing, join the Book Club. Each year, the club chooses books to read and reflect on.

When: Fridays at 2:30pm

Varsity Club

When you earn a varsity letter from an IHSAA sport, you are invited to join and participate in Varsity Club's activities. You can follow them on Instagram at khsvarsityclub_ or Twitter @MemorialManiac_

International Council

International students at KHS can apply to join the International Council. Application are sent to all International students via email and between five and seven students will be selected. 

When: Wednesdays at 2:30pm

Environmental Club

Environmental Club is a group of students seeking to make the world a better place. They participate in trash cleanup, bottle cap collection and visit area parks to hike and explore nature. Follow them on Instagram at khs_environmental_club.

When: the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 2:30pm

Academic Super Bowl

Do you enjoy Jeopardy? Do Trivia nights excite you? Then come check out Academic Superbowl! There are teams for English, Science, Math, Fine Arts and Social Studies. The theme this year is the  “End of the Second Millennium: 1980s and the 1990s.”

When: Call out meeting Sept. 15 at 2:35pm

Nakiya Dennis is a senior at Kokomo High School. This is her first time being on the yearbook and newspaper staff. In her free time she likes painting and photography. When she graduates she plans to go to college while pursuing a career in photography.
