Homecoming is a cherished tradition that brings people back to their roots, evoking feelings of nostalgia and belonging. It is a time when alumni return to their alma mater, old friends reconnect and the community gathers to celebrate. The air is filled with excitement, as schools adorn themselves with vibrant decorations and events showcase the spirit of unity. Homecoming football games take center stage, igniting school pride and enthusiasm. But beyond the festivities, homecoming represents the enduring ties that bind us to our past, reminding us that, no matter where life takes us, there is always a place where we can come back and feel at home.

Spirit Week is that magical time of the school year when students get to unleash their creativity and school spirit by dressing up in themed outfits. This year’s Spirit Week runs from this Tuesday through Friday. The KHS Student Council has organized dress-up days: Tuesday is Barbie vs Ken, Wednesday is Country vs Country Club, Thursday is Iconic Duos and Friday is Spirit Day. Students are encouraged to participate in the dress-up throughout the week. So break out that Barbie pink or grab your best friend to be the Pluto to your Mickey Mouse or the SpongeBob to your Patrick.

Student Council is also hosting a dodgeball tournament on Tuesday. The games start at 5:15pm in the gym. Even if you didn’t join a team, come out and support the students who are playing.

The week wraps up Friday night at the Homecoming football, when the 5-1 Wildkats take on the Anderson Indians. The freshmen, sophomore and junior prince and princesses will be honored at halftime of the game. The Homecoming king and queen will also be crowned at halftime.

Homecoming t-shirts are on sale for $10 dollars Tuesday through Friday this week. Several clubs and organizations designed spirit sheets and decorated hallways to celebrate the week too. If you’re interested in helping out with events like Homecoming, consider joining Student Council. They meet every Monday after school in room 281. To find more information, you can contact club sponsors Leslie Lewis or Mariah Horner.

Happy Homecoming Week, Kats! We can’t wait to see the awesome outfits you’ve got planned for the dress-up days!
