Senior Alexis Farrell already has big plans following her high school graduation. Farrell has already been accepted to the Ball State University Honors College. There she will study to become a nurse anesthetist.
“I have motivated myself academically by telling myself that the amount of effort you put in is how much better your results will be,” Farrell said. “All you have to do is apply yourself at least a little and there will be improvements no matter who you are.”
One of Farrell’s favorite school assignments was when she worked with a group to create a school outside the normal standards. She proposed a STEM Academy focused on career paths for each individual teen. While her group wanted to create a school based solely on athletics, Farrell proposed they incorporate athletics into the school as a career path.
In addition to her academics, Farrell participates in German Club and Debate. She is also on the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Board. Recently, she was named a finalist in the “Letters About Literature” contest.
But like many high school seniors, Farrell is just trying to make it to the finish line.
“The senioritis is kicking in already.”
