Despite falling to McCutcheon in the sectional semi-final, the LadyKats girls’ basketball team put together one of the best seasons in 15 years. The team was well-prepared for the sectional game and kept it close until the final buzzer.

“Going into the game, I felt very confident in us,” said senior Regan McClain. “During the game, it really felt like we had great energy and were all playing together well.”

Head coach Haley Peckinpaugh agreed.

“During the sectional game, I felt very proud of our girls for the way they played,” she said.

The season had many highlights for the LadyKats’ players and their coaches.

“Some highlights are that we had the best record since 2009-2010 with 16 wins and we got second in the conference,” Peckinpaugh said. “Some things I took away from the season were that these players are mentally tough and ready to play hard for their teammates. They will do whatever it takes to win.”

As the season ends, everyone feels differently, especially the seniors who suited up in the LadyKats jerseys for the final time.

“I am grateful to have been a part of the LadyKat family and I’m very thankful for all the memories and support,” McClain said. “The program isn’t just a team, it’s a family.”
